Loki was born to be king, it’s his birthright but disguising himself as his kidnapper is not the way to do it. Instead, Sigyn and Loki leave Asgard behind. They travel to Jotunheim and find Loki’s true homeland is slowly dying and in ruins. Above all else, Jotunheim needs a ruler wholly devoted to restoring it to its former glory and liberating it from Asgard’s thrall.

Fitting Sigyn into the MCU starting from just before Thor 1 all the way through Infinity War. Sigyn is a witch that wants Vanaheim to be free of Asgard’s rule. She meets Loki at a summer solstice celebration in Vanaheim and they cause some very Shakespearean trouble in Asgard until Loki’s fall. From then on, Sigyn’s life is a pendulum swinging between the very real possibility of losing her children and the sweet bliss of being reunited with the husband she thought she lost.
After the battle of New York, Thor takes Loki back to Asgard to face justice. No one expected someone to come to Loki’s defense but there is one who will always protect Loki from any venom, including the venom of the Asgardian court.

And what is Sigyn supposed to do about her fiance? Would her mother, Freya, allow Sigyn to break off her engagement?
Loki has broken out of prison. The infinity gauntlet has been stolen. Suddenly, only Clint and Natasha remember a time when Loki wasn’t the benevolent king of Midgard. And since when does Loki have the patience to be a benevolent king?
This is your typical 'boy meets girl’ story. Boy suffers another humiliating defeat. Girl finds Boy passed out on the side of the road. Boy gives Girl a false name and takes her to Midgard for mini adventure that was perfectly innocent! Boy’s brother and his allies ruin everything again! Boy loses Girl. Maybe because Boy is an infamous supervillain. Maybe not. Boy decides to focus on conquering the nine realms instead of moping about being dumped.
Sigyn Iwaldidottir has had a crush on Loki since she was a child. Even after Odin cast him out and Loki attempted to take Midgard or Asgard, she still remembers him as the boy who rescued her from her burning house. Even knowing that he’s an unrepentant villain can’t stop her loving him. She’ll happily fight Thor and the Avengers so his dream of conquest will come true. And she’ll protect him from anything that could threaten him, no matter the cost.
After another defeat, Fate dropped Loki in the lap of one of his fans. Yes, Loki has fans! He wasn’t always a supervillain. He joined Thor on heroic quests when they were young. He slayed monsters and rescued damsels, same as Thor. One damsel, Sigyn Iwaldidottir, still has a crush on the trickster prince and would do anything to make him happy. Even break into Avengers Tower and fight the Avengers on their home turf.
Even if he was defeated, all was not lost. Loki still has the Avengers’ entire hard drive to review. Now he’s got a new plan that is guaranteed to work. So what if Sigyn doesn’t approve. He can handle the raw power of the Infinity Stones without the stones themselves or the gauntlet to act as buffers. Sigyn’s just being overprotective and needs to stay out of the way.
Sigyn was lost in some void, trapped with the raw energy of the Infinity Stones. And even though it was absolutely not Loki’s fault, he was going to make it right. He’d get the infinity stones, infinity gauntlet and Sigyn back. He could still win. He could still defeat the Avengers, he could still take over the nine realms and Sigyn would be safe and sound by his side.
Good triumphed over evil. Thanos is gone, Sigyn is free of the infinity stones’ control, Loki is back in prison. Sigyn also left Loki for breaking his promise not to mess with the raw power of the infinity stones and causing this whole mess in the first place. Even after escaping prison, Loki didn’t get a chance to see her because her mother, Freya, won’t allow it.
“You were a hero once. While most people become less selfish as they grow older, you are far more selfish now than you ever were as a boy. It’s too bad that boy is gone, he was far more worthy of Sigyn’s heart than you,” she told him.
Loki has decided that she was issuing him a challenge to become a hero and what better way to do that than joining the Avengers?
Odin and Freya arranged a marriage between Thor and Sigyn.
Everybody disliked that.
But this marriage isn’t about love, it’s about smoothing over tensions between Asgard and Vanaheim. The well-being of a realm is more important than a broken heart.
Odin has given Loki total command of Asgard’s troops stationed in Vanaheim. Queen Freya is preparing for the inevitable invasion. Sigyn is sure that if she can just talk to Loki, they can sort everything out.
I honestly always find the term ‘spinster’ as referring to an elderly, never-married woman as funny because you know what?
Wool was a huge industry in Europe in the middle ages. It was hugely in demand, particularly broadcloth, and was a valuable trade good. A great deal of wool was owned by monasteries and landed gentry who owned the land.
And, well, the only way to spin wool into yarn to make broadcloth was by hand.
This was viewed as a feminine occupation, and below the dignity of the monks and male gentry that largely ran the trade.
So what did they do?
They hired women to spin it. And, turns out, this was a stable job that paid very well. Well enough that it was one of the few viable economic options considered ‘respectable’ outside of marriage for a woman. A spinster could earn quite a tidy salary for her art, and maintain full control over her own money, no husband required.
So, naturally, women who had little interest in marriage or men? Grabbed this opportunity with both hands and ran with it. Of course, most people didn’t get this, because All Women Want Is Husbands, Right?
So when people say ‘spinster’ as in ‘spinster aunt’, they are TRYING to conjure up an image of a little old lady who is lonely and bitter.
But what I HEAR are the smiles and laughter of a million women as they earned their own money in their own homes and controlled their own fortunes and lived life on their own terms, and damn what society expected of them.
Just wanted to add that the suffix -ster was originally specifically feminine, a means of denoting a lady known by her profession. Spinster = female spinner, baxter = female baker, webster = female weaver (webber), brewster = female brewer. If one of the ladies named Alys in your village was known for selling her excellent weaving, you might call her Alys Webster (to differentiate her from, say, Alys Littel who was rather short, and Alys Bywater who lived near the pond).
This fascinates me for many reasons, but especially in the case of modern families with last names like Baxter or Webster or Brewster. What formidable and well-known ancestresses managed to pass on those very gendered names to all their descendants, when last names were changing from personal “nicknames” into indicators of lineage among the middle and lower classes? There’s a forgotten story of a fascinating woman behind every one of those family lines.

yes. where is my angst stemming from the pressure of everyone seeing thor as the golden perfect prince and thor always needing to embody that. and yes he fits into that role naturally and is able to meet asgardian standards for being “the Ideal TM” in a way Loki never could.
and yet it comes at the cost of so many people just seeing him at this very surface level, almost as an archetype or a caricature rather than a real person. and that hurts in a way he doesn’t even know how to articulate because nothing in his society or upbringing has taught him to do so. but it’s also what his identity is tied up in, so he has to keep performing that. and any part of him - any thought or feeling or impulse - that doesn’t quite fit gets shoved to the back of his mind and firmly ignored.
i think one of the sweetest part of loving someone, is having their wellness prioritised as if it were your own. it’s becomes natural to share whatever goodness you have or do, with them. like “oh!! this chocolate is so good! I’m going to save a piece for her!” or instinctively saying their name in every prayer you make. instead of thinking or doing good for only yourself, you do it for them too. love merge people in such a way, that they become not only a part of our life but an extension of us.

The Twitter home feed’s been down for most of this morning. Even though nothing loads, the Twitter website never stops trying and trying.
In the first video, notice the error message that I’m being rate limited. Then notice the jiggling scrollbar on the right.
The second video shows why it’s jiggling. Twitter is firing off about 10 requests a second to itself to try and fetch content that never arrives because Elon’s latest genius innovation is to block people from being able to read Twitter without logging in.
This likely created some hellish conditions that the engineers never envisioned and so we get this comedy of errors resulting in the most epic of self-owns, the self-DDOS.

Once you hit your limit, it stops you from loading the page. But it also doesn’t know WHY it isn’t loading, so it keeps TRYING.
Twitter is literally hitting itself in the face ten times per second per user.
This is so completely amateurish it’s unbelievable. It’s like putting your car in neutral and slamming your foot on the gas until your engine redlines and then wondering why it’s making a horrible noise and a terrible smell but not going anywhere.
